What is true is that the weekday advice is repeated by everyone who writes about this place, and it matches what I see from the water most mornings: Saturday and Sunday are when the birthdays are, and a Tuesday is a different canal.
The busiest week of the year
La Flor Más Bella del Ejido runs 22–29 March 2026, the 239th edition, free to enter, and Mayor Circe Camacho announced that 1.5 million visitors are expected. It points the opposite way from the rest of this page: if the flower festival is what you want, that is the week to come, and space is what you trade for it.

Highs run 21–27 °C all year, so the temperature is rarely the problem. The timing of the rain is. A trajinera is open-sided under a fabric or metal roof, which means an afternoon storm in July is not a minor inconvenience — it is the trip. That is why mornings are the better choice. La Llorona en Cuemanco, Friday to Sunday at 18:00 and 21:00 from Embarcadero Cuemanco, MX$750 pesos per person including the trajinera and the show, bilingual. Día de Muertos. The 2026 program has not been announced, which is normal — the borough publishes in late September or October.
So which day
A weekday morning outside the last week of March, if the choice is yours. A Sunday afternoon if what you want is the full noise of the place, which is a perfectly good reason and half the people I know would pick it. Either way the dock matters more than the day — see which dock to leave from — and if you are three or more, hiring your own boat is worth comparing.
